Boinge! Boinge! Boinge!

Whew! What a month!

Just a week (7/19) before a business trip for my “day” job I got a call from the Irish Cultural Center here in Phoenix to do a show for the month of August, with an opening around an event August 3rd (First Friday). I had talked to their management several months ago about doing this in August or September, but hadn’t heard anything more. Apparently, everyone over there thought someone had already confirmed August (lots of people in different locations – it happens). Fortunately, I had about half of the pictures for this ready – unfortunately, not the pictures I had taken of the Center itself that I wanted to include in the show!

Fortunately, I have a great photo lab that managed to get these printed for me in time for me to madly frame and label everything (the art director at the center offered to hang them for me) AND still had time to pack for my business trip (7/27).
Then…. I got back from my business trip (8/1), and go to the show the evening of August 3rd. We had a great time – a local musician I know (Jim Pipkin of Pipkins’ Porch) and a few other musicians got up and played a few sets during the Open Mike (or is that Mic?), and since it’s an IRISH Cultural Center there was a bar, and food, and….

Then, after a birthday party for a friend later that weekend, on Tuesday, my husband tells me he found some one week old kittens abandoned in a house he was showing (he’s a Realtor). So we end up fostering three kittens for a day while the No-Kill Shelter in our area finds space for them overnight. It’s amazing how loud something that small can be.

While that was going on, I sent in an order to my lab for a print that was ordered at the show (the photo I had up was too big for their space) and portfolio prints for some great night shots I took before my trip and at the ICC show (on this post).

So now – things have slowed down enough for me to write in my blog, mat the order I got, and update my portfolio. So that I can call on ANOTHER show lead I got just before my business trip. And I got another lead yesterday for a possible local radio interview, and I’m thinking about going camping during the new moon (the weekend after this one) so I can try taking some galaxy and night desert shots.

Somewhere in there, I plan to take up breathing and sleeping again. The point of this is…. sorry for the long space between posts! I promise I haven’t gone missing!

BTW – if you want a kitten – they’ll be done baking in a few weeks. I’ll be happy to hook you up!
